Conta-se que o pr\u00edncipe regente Dom Pedro II (1825-1891), encomendou a um escultor portugu\u00eas um lote de imagens de Nossa Senhora. Anos depois foi proclamada a rep\u00fablica, inviabilizando a entrega das imagens que ficaram guardadas no Rio de Janeiro at\u00e9 que um bispo decidiu presentar as mais pr\u00f3speras par\u00f3quias criadas do Nordeste, em comemora\u00e7\u00e3o \u00e0 passagem do s\u00e9culo, incluindo Santana do Ipanema.\u00a0<\/p>

A imagem veio de navio at\u00e9 o porto de Recife, chegando a Macei\u00f3 no caminh\u00e3o do ex\u00e9rcito brasileiro. Algum tempo depois, a viagem prosseguiu de trem at\u00e9 Vi\u00e7osa. De l\u00e1 at\u00e9 Santana do Ipanema no lombo de jumentos, seguindo os caminhos dos tropeiros e almocreves, chegando ao sert\u00e3o no dia 15.11.1899.<\/p>

Em 2012 um grupo de tropeiros decidiu refazer o caminho da imagem no lombo de animais. Desde ent\u00e3o, anualmente a cavalgada acontece partindo de Vi\u00e7osa \u00e0 Santana do Ipanema.<\/p>

Dez anos depois, em 2022, um grupo de amigos peregrinos decidiu fazer o mesmo caminho em peregrina\u00e7\u00e3o. Surgia assim a ideia da sinaliza\u00e7\u00e3o da trilha de aproximadamente 150km e da constru\u00e7\u00e3o de um caminho inspirado no caminho milenar de Santiago de Compostela, na Espanha, e no Caminho da F\u00e9, em Aparecida – SP.\u00a0<\/p>
